I create art to release my inner child and help me relax. Working with clay soothes me and allows me to be creative.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite type of art to create is miniature ceramic animals and trinket dishes with stunning glazes. I have a zoo of animals at my desk and I’m constantly trying out new glaze combinations on my trinket dishes.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration for my miniature animals from wildlife photos, visits to the zoo, and fellow potters. As for my trinket dish glazing, I have a tendency to just experiment and try out different glazes together (I am a scientist after all). I typically start by making test tiles first, which I have the perfect tortoise mold for (the texture on the shell allows me to see if glaze combinations will show the texture).
What would you do with $25,000?I would use it to finish paying off my student loans and then the rest would go in savings towards my dream trip to Antarctica. My miniature ceramic animals started with penguins because I’ve dreamed of visiting them in Antarctica since I was eight years old. Winning would help me be much closer to making this dream a reality.
