In Kindergarten, I said I wanted to be artist. It's somethings that comes naturally to me. Art allows me to feel everything. It completes me.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Over the years, painting has been my go to. There is something about it, that just makes me smile. I love the idea of going to an art store to pick out my canvases and paint. I love acrylic the best, but I also enjoy gouache and watercolors. To me, painting is like spiritual practice, once I envision something or I dream of it, I am able to create it. This is the best way for me to get out my thoughts and feelings. They may be chaotic and surreal but also beautiful.
Where do you find inspiration? My inspiration comes from 3 things, growing up in the 2000s, my heritage, and the Aquarium of the Pacific. I am a proud Afro-Mexican girl, and I like to include that in my work. It's important to me to stay grounded and remind myself of were I came from. Growing up in the 2000s I consumed lots of media like Girlfriends to Sailor Moon. I love how the 2000s was bold and colorful. Since I was little, I had 2 passions art and the sea. In the end, I picked art, but I still love to paint the ocean.
What would you do with $25,000?With the 25,000 dollars, I would be responsible and put a good portion away. The portion I decide to spend, I'd like it to go towards my art buisness. I want to be able to stand on my two feet with my work. Eventually, get more opportunities, have the right supplies and have more of a community. The first step is creating more work and selling. I would love to sell my original work, prints, cards, and stickers. This could get me started. I am excited to see what the future holds.
