Malorie Thorn

I love to express myself. Sometimes, I feel something so strongly, so intensely, that words don't do it justice. I breathe to create.

What is your favorite type of art to create?

My favorite art to make is mixed media. I love combining trash and classic art forms. It challenges me and I love how uncomfortable that makes me feel. I’m playing with trash, and I have the power to create something beautiful that would otherwise have no meaning or value. It’s an honor to find beauty in the mundane and ordinary.

Where do you find inspiration?

I find inspiration for my pieces within my daydreams. Usually, my pieces come to me suddenly, or I dream them. If I use references I try to find one that is rich with emotion. I am deeply inspired by artists like Monet, Elliot Hundley, Impressionism, and abstract works of art. They inspire me to push myself out of my comfort zone. They remind me that being uncomfortable is a sign of progress and to push through it.

What would you do with $25,000?

20k would go to paying for my college. Since I have to financially support myself. Another 5K would go to a high yields saving account (I have to think about my future as I'm a senior in high school).
