Art is not what I do, it's who I am. Whether words fail or I just need release, art constantly shows me something new about myself.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite type of art to create is art that speaks to a moment of feeling. Be it the love and affection I felt from a mother and their baby boy. Be it a moment of distress from finding out horrible news and having nowhere but paper to let out that energy. I always want to convey FEELING first. Sometimes it's a more direct portrait, and other times, more abstract.
Where do you find inspiration?Simply put, in everything. But especially in human interaction. That interaction does not have to be with me specifically, but seeing how a person encounters another or their reaction to anything that appeals to the five senses. Most times, my inspiration stems from capturing a candid moment with an individual.
What would you do with $25,000?I would first put some in emergency saving. Buy more art supplies, though that wouldn't make a dent. I'd use some to invest in a watercolor mentorship with Mary Whyte that I've always wanted to take. Buy a used car for no more than $8K, as I do not have one. And I would start a college fund for my godson, whether he chooses college or something else. I want to contribute to him being set up for success. Lastly, save around $2K for a trip somewhere I've never been to broaden my life experiences.
