My favorite art to create is wearable art and transformative visual storytelling—pieces that people can feel, not just see. I love designing Catrina-inspired fashion, headpieces, body art, masks, and cultural installations that honor heritage and history. I work with fabric, airbrush, paint, flowers, recycled materials, and sculpture to create living art that tells stories of identity, resilience, and beauty. My art is meant to be experienced, photographed, remembered, and felt emotionally.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in my culture, my community, and the stories of everyday people. Being born and raised in East Los Angeles shaped my artistic voice deeply. I’m inspired by Día de los Muertos traditions, strong women, ancestral roots, street culture, nature, music, and the resilience of people who turn struggle into strength. I also find inspiration in history, protest, healing, and the beauty that comes from survival and transformation.
What would you do with $25,000?I would use the $25,000 to expand my art into a true community platform—creating wearable art, public installations, workshops, and mentorship for young artists, especially women and youth from underserved communities. It would help me invest in materials, studio space, travel for cultural exhibitions, and educational programs that preserve heritage through art.
