My favorite type of art to create is abstract. I enjoy being exact and learning including the elements of art, but I also love the mess. Or for better words the process, and a lot of times that looks messy. It’s not in order, it’s free, it’s felt, and it exudes from our spirit what others can’t imagine. That makes for a good speaking piece.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in my own life rather that be my upbringing in the ghettos of Kansas City or the history of my bloodline coming from Ghana to Missouri. I think of the hardships the women of my family endured coming from slavery, to sharecropping and the civil rights movement. I am blessed and honored to be carry on a legacy fought so hard to attain for a long time now. My art carries that legacy forward even if no one sees it. Though, it’s better if they do.
What would you do with $25,000?Winning $25,000 via Johnny Depp’s challenge would be a total career-changer. First, I’d secure stability by putting $5k in savings to break the "struggling" cycle. Next, I’d invest in space: $8k for a studio and childcare to buy focused "art hours." Then, I’d level up by spending $4k on professional pigments and a photographer for my portfolio. This prize isn't just money; it’s the seed for my professional creative empire.
