My work is based on the beauty that surrounds me…..people, animals and architecture. My art communicates my emotional response to the world
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Oil on canvas is my favorite medium because it provides the opportunity to use bright colors that hopefully will get the attention of the viewers and make them analyze the purpose of my paintings. Portraits are especially fun for me to paint. I also enjoy working with clay, especially creating sculptures and pottery, primarily by hand building.
Where do you find inspiration? My family has been involved with horses for many generations, and I love to portray their beauty and grace. Being from an engineering background, I like to use geometrical shapes to enhance my compositions. I also enjoy painting family members as well as jazz musicians. In ceramics, I have recently worked with pressing the patterns of old hand made doily's into the clay and making bowls with them.
What would you do with $25,000?Definitely donate part of it to St. Jude's Hospital, it was my husbands favorite charity. At his memorial in March we asked for donations rather than flowers. I would also take my family on a trip. My five grand children learn so much from traveling.
