My work is informed by contemporary cultural and political environments - with a deep visceral reaction to assault and injustices -
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My response to the oppression of civil and human rights in the current political environment - is expressed in sculpture. I use clay - fired - then painted - an additional material, like stainless steel is often used to emphasize the emotion.
Where do you find inspiration? The inspiration comes, in part, from ineptness of government to act in the interest of the people, of all the people ! - and the corruption, the disregard of laws...- plus disappointment of many rulings by the Supreme Court: Goldilocks - informed by sex trafficking. Alabama Louisiana (w/ thread and needle) - informed by anti-abortion legislation Rising - We The People (barbed wire at base) - informed by creeping authoritarian government Welcome - in 2 sections - informed by immigration Etc....
What would you do with $25,000?I would donate part to elect better honest leaders who actually take their job seriously, follow the law, and care for All The People - without lining their own pockets. This country is in such a mess, at the moment - we need a lot of help restore our democracy.
