Art is my freedom after years of structure—where intuition leads, emotion lives, and what I create connects beyond me.

I love to create abstract landscapes by painting in triangles - each one is different and placed to build light, movement and emotion. Working in acrylics, I'm inspired by bodies of water, the varying colours of the sky, and the quiet, healing presence of trees. Each piece evolves intuitively into a personal reflection of a moment, memory or feeling.
Where do you find inspiration?Beyond nature, I'm inspired by how art creates a canopy that brings people together. I've seen firsthand how a painting can spark connection, create space for people to tell their stories, and bring such joy. I also love when people can't believe it's all triangles. Knowing my work and vision can resonate with someone else...that it can be felt, not just seen, is a constant source of inspiration.
What would you do with $25,000?This award would help support my transition into a full-time artist and provide more opportunities to connect with nature, which is essential to my work. In addition, I'd use it to continue building connection with a wider and more diverse audience, not only to tell my story, but to create space for others to share theirs as well. Art brings people together, and there is no better time for creating positive experiences for people than now.
