What is your favorite type of art to create?

Art gives me confidence to trust myself. My favorite process is purely organic. I let the canvas evolve naturally by playing with brushstrokes and color until I build a base that inevitably shows me pockets of opportunity to layer values, composition, texture, and movement.

Where do you find inspiration?

My work is inspired by community, color, and the beauty hidden in ordinary moments. Art gives my life purpose on the days when I don't have direction. There are countless inspiring moments that happen everyday from shadows of a crosswalk to watching people duet on piano. The urge to express everything that I hold within me; love, gratitude, movement- sometimes I just need to get it all out!

What would you do with $25,000?

I would travel with my parents, buy a car, find a mentor to help me with my art, learn spanish, pay my rent, visit my long distance boyfriend, take my friends to a delicious crab boil, buy some paints and canvases, and just try to be as wise as possible to make my dream future a reality!
