What is your favorite type of art to create?

My favorite art to create is oil paintings of cityscapes and street scenes. I also enjoy painting still lives- mainly flowers. A lot of my art is based on scenes from travel. I hiked the Camino de Santiago twice and painted a watercolor postcard each day and then created oil paintings from my favorite scenes. I also did a series from Greece and am currently working on some paintings from The Netherlands. At home I usually paint scenes from Philadelphia and Camden, NJ.

Where do you find inspiration?

My inspiration for my paintings generally comes from travel. I enjoy Roman bridges, quaint villages, and unique architecture. My Philadelphia cityscapes often show the charm of the older homes and historic buildings. My style is expressionistic- highlighting beautiful colors and light. I like to find beauty in small details I call "the magic". The small lines and dots create imagery that suggest motion and life.

What would you do with $25,000?

If I were to win the $25,000, I would move closer to New York City and embrace the art scene. I have always wanted to live in NYC where there is a plethora of inspiration in the architecture and city life for me to draw from - I also think that the artist's community is stronger in NYC and I would feel invigorated to create more art. I probably would also take a trip to Ireland - I have been told I would love the scenery and people there.
