I had rheumatic fever when I was a child in the 4th grade. I drew and painted while in bed rest for the summer. I taught art for 30 yrs.

I painted with acrylics on canvas, because I am allergic to oils. I love drawing with pencil, charcoal, and colored pencils. I taught art and crafts for 30 years in Anderson County Tennessee. I retired and spent 9 months just creating for myself...a picture of my Mimmy and Papaw from old black and white photo's when they were young and had prints produced to give to my cousins. I am currently working on childhood memories of my children at a gathering in the Smoky Mountains with my family.
Where do you find inspiration?Memories, stories...I even made a painting of a Pegasus foal from my mind. I painted a picture of UT'S Ayres Hall as you exit the Clarence Brown Theatre at night, 4'X 4'. I love that Campus. I also have an acrylic of my 3 dogs, "Charlie, Chubby, and BooBoo, coming home from the hunt. I have a friend who visited Scotland and took her Memories from there and drew a collage in colored pencil of that experience and her family's life that summer to send to her as a surprise gift for her.
What would you do with $25,000?Paint, draw, and spend my retirement making my artistic dreams come true. Everything outside of my 3 acres has changed in East Tennessee. These golden years I want to draw, paint and add sculpture to my pieces. I have tried to enter my work when I was young to the Dogwood Art Festival, but was told I did true art and people would not accept it here. When I pass, I would love to turn my home into a museum with all my work on display so all the community to see me as an artist.
