Although I love colour, texture and paint viscosity, lately I’ve been delving into 3d sculptural techniques. My recent works called Flux and Reflux explores rhythmic patterns of decline and regeneration through ocean found materials. Using natural and human made debris gathered from shorelines, each sculpture tells a story of destruction and rebirth, inviting the viewer to consider beauty in transformation and the persistent power of natural forces.
Where do you find inspiration?With the enjoyment of beach-combing and a new discovery of the medium, epoxy/resin, it is inspiring to transform broken glass (sea glass), driftwood and stone into new cohesive configurations. It is creatively satisfyingly to reorganize these objects into sculptures that represent evolutionary emergence, both contemporary and primordial. Also, Flux and Reflux reflects nature’s cyclical processes and humanity’s impact on coastal environments.
What would you do with $25,000?The amount of money would be used as a down payment for a piece of Atlantic coastal property, where the sun sets in reds and golds, the sound of waves and seagulls could be heard, and the smell of the ocean fills the air.
