Any type of art that lets me go somewhere I've never been before works for me. It could be as simple as watching the leaves fall or cooking a meal for someone. My favorite type of art to create is centered around music and songwriting. It still amazes me that when we create a song, we create a whole world that comes into existence for anyone who spares a few minutes of their life to listen. Even when the words and melody are set, you wind up creating something new each time you perform it.

With regard to songwriting, I get inspired when I hear something new and different when I'm playing around on the guitar. At that point I can feel that something is there, but I know that I need to go further. I play the chords or the riff or the riff and the chords over and over until my head is empty and I can really feel it. Using this same process, I've come up with songs about love, friendship, sadness, drug addiction, enlightenment, happiness, and hope. I don't understand, but that's ok.

I would use some of the money to free up time so I can record my next album. For my first albums, I did most of the parts myself, and that worked out OK. This time I would use some of the money to put together a band. I just know that what we produce will be beyond what each of us could do alone. We can work together to make a creative expression that represents all of us at the same time. I'd also like to do some nice things to help my friends : )
