What is your favorite type of art to create?

I adore making glass pendants! I like the idea that the person who owns the piece can wear it as an extension of themselves while also giving them something to look at that will brighten their day. My preferred style of work is whimsical and at times surreal in the way I apply pattern with the colored glass. My subject matter can range from ducks and other animals to more abstract forms.

Where do you find inspiration?

I find inspiration in every student I teach. I work as a "traveling glass instructor". This means I meet people from all walks of life and teach them, not only a glassblowing lesson, but I teach them to trust in their creativity. Seeing the spark in a student's eye when they see a piece they made reminds me of why I create art in the first place. Sometimes I get good suggestions from a student for designs and other times I'm reminded to simply trust my own creativity.

What would you do with $25,000?

I am currently seeking resources to create a small glass working and metals studio where I can further explore the intersections of my glass and metal work. I am only 23 and just graduated college last year, which means student loan debt is quietly looming over my shoulder. The money would help fund my future artistic endeavors and hopefully provide me with the resources to spread my creativity.
