40 years of art—paint, music, sculpture, now MIG welding. It’s not easy, but it’s who I am.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Right now, my favorite work is sculptural—handcrafted steel lamps built through MIG welding. I come from painting and music, but working in steel lets me create something physical and lasting. Each piece feels like uncovering an artifact—functional, but still art. It’s where everything I’ve done for 40 years comes together.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in the process itself—especially how steel transforms through heat, texture, and color. I start with a vision, but the piece evolves as I work. Even in painting, I’ve always been drawn to structure and form. I believe art reveals itself—we’re just the hands that bring it into the world.
What would you do with $25,000?This is an easy one—without hesitation, I’d give it to my wife. For nearly a decade, she’s supported me while I’ve chased this path, even when it wasn’t easy or practical. That money would be a thank you—for her patience, belief, and for allowing me to keep creating when there was no guarantee of return.
