My eyes see the beauty in the broken and forgotten objects from the past. I create a reliquary for each object to honor its beauty .

Receive Text UpdatesI am primarily a mixed media artist utilizing found objects, pressed flowers and salvaged wood - combined with painting ( sometimes oil, sometimes watercolor). I mostly create shadow box type reliquaries , but I also do stand alone “conventional “ paintings. Mixed media ideas tend to flow through my being so naturally that my mind is constantly flooded with ideas every time I see something beautiful. However I do enjoy the simplicity, discipline and tradition of paints, brushes and canvas.
Where do you find inspiration?Nature-especially flowers. But also discarded old items- fragments of glass and china, hardware, household items and textiles that I find on the ground or in abandoned houses. Each work tells a story about the subject. I find beauty and history in even the tiniest objects- whether it be a fragment of glass, a nail, door knob or flowers. What most people overlook is a whole world of history that most people overlook.
What would you do with $25,000?Well my husband and I live in an old family house that we are restoring and would put some of the money into that. My studio is in a separate building that also needs some repairs. I’d love to extend it into a space where I can teach small classes. We live in a very rural area that doesn’t offer art classes.I also want to take a month long dream to take a trip to Europe to see the great museums. Lastly I would love to in higher quality paints with a more vast selection of pigments!
