Connect What is your favorite type of art to create?

I make work surrounding what is most on my mind at the moment or the most prevalent emotion in a given time. This generally refers to: love, loss, or frustration. I generally the human body and nostalgic items of personal significance as reference material. The goal is to create something legible with identifiable sources.

Where do you find inspiration?

I find inspiration in things that give me comfort like my family, books, and television. I am constantly fascinated by what interests me, so I try to learn everything I can about a subject which spirals into anything remotely related surrounding a subject: crochet, theme park history, and American sitcoms from the 1970s to the 1990s. I also create work in response to moments that give I find difficult in everyday life.

What would you do with $25,000?

I would feel at peace and be able to create art without worry. I just graduated college, and this money would mean I could focus on my art and finding a job that would support my practice. It would give me the time and mental energy I need to find my next apartment, pay my bills, and dedicate more time to finding my day job. Alternatively, it would allow me to quit my day job for a few months, so I could take time to paint enough works to apply to graduate school in painting.
