I create to keep childhood wonder alive, carrying the Mad Hatter as my reminder to stay beautifully mad and spread joy, light, imagination

My favorite type of art to create is a mix of identity, symbolism, and storytelling. I gravitate most toward bold, culturally rooted and symbolic art. I consistently lean into pieces that carry meaning beyond aesthetics. I'm not just making something that “looks good”. I'm creating something that represents who I am, where I come from, and what I believe. I create from a space of joy, wonder, and meaning. I want my work to bring light to people. Not all treasure is gold.
Where do you find inspiration?A major source of my inspiration is my connection to Chicano culture. Ordinary moments are powerful. I see the beauty in the story. My inspiration comes from taking something deeply rooted in faith and presenting it with boldness, edge, and attitude. Another source of inspiration is visual storytelling. I take familiar figures, concepts and flipping them into something new. That instinct connects directly to the influence of Mad Hatter, who I carry as a reminder to “stay mad in the best ways."
What would you do with $25,000?I’d invest it into continuing my mentorship with Danielle Weber, an Australian muralist who’s built a powerful artist community. I’d use it to buy the materials I need to create more art and keep leveling up. I would bless people around me. Most importantly, I’d use it to inspire others to follow their dream because no dream is too big.
