Creating is the opposite of depression. When the world feels heavy I know I have comfort with a paintbrush in my hand.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite art to create are paintings done in the style of a false realism and mixed media. I like making a painting have the illusion of realism with solid bold colors and different textures. I like to add embroidery to my canvas along with even adding a textured undercoat before the painting itself. Art is subjective but I believe that if you let your heart lead your painting you can never go wrong.
Where do you find inspiration?I find a lot of my style is inspired by my favorite artists. I love Van Goghs style and love to incorporate that into the animals I paint. My favorite painting is starry night, I just love the short brush strokes in colors that don’t blend together. I also find inspiration in my love for bold and bright colors. I love when things just stand out in a spot they wouldn’t typically belong, but confident enough that it works together. It’s a reflection of me and that’s fun to create!
What would you do with $25,000?I absolutely would invest in my art and grow in ways I never dreamt of but I absolutely wouldn’t be able to do what I do without my beautiful family. And my husband, my kids (and I) deserve a family vacation. I get to do what I do because my husband is the hardest working man I know and just wants me to chase my dreams. My children are my biggest fans, all three. Absolutely no one roots for me harder than my children do. I want to show them that chasing their dreams is always the right choice!
