I started my career as a painter, a medium that still resonates with me. Yet over years, I realize how many forms art can take on--installation and immersive experiences; digital technology and its relationship to our physical reality. Today, art knows no boundaries, there is no concrete answer as to what art is. I create all types of art; the underlying sentiment which unifies my work is what can I show audiences, without words, to spark a conversation between us. So my favorite is dialogue.
Where do you find inspiration?From people I see, and people I know. I have participated in several festivals, and I am excited by the art, music,, dance, movement, colours, the ever improving production technologies that I use to create my own contributions. And most of all, the community we build through these joys.
What would you do with $25,000?I want to open my own artist-run centre and gallery in B.C. Canada, which would also offer residencies to aspiring artists. Our facility would offer exhibition opportunities for its residents and eventually expand to national and international talents. Art is a means of connecting people with each other. I want to provide other artists with the resources they need to do the same. $25 000 would be an amazing amount to begin this dream.
