Reaching into the ethers to bring forward the unseen, in a world where feeling unseen is consistent, enables life's breath.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I am an eclectic artist, primarily favoring painting and sculpting. My practice has evolved from honoring the deceased through memorial portraits to a devotional praxis. Whether working in acrylics and watercolours or sculpting tangible forms, I create art that explores the intersection of the physical and non physical. I favor immersive processes that allow me to bring the unseen into the world, using my art as a ritualized method of spiritual intention.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in the unseen. I look toward the ethers, where dreams and ancient myths converge. I am inspired by the iconography of the past—specifically the powerful, often misunderstood spirits of Mesopotamian lore like the transformative energy of the Gorgon, Medusa. I dont feel it's a passive spark; but one of devotion, a deep calling. I find my direction through the ritual of the work itself. I am deeply inspired to bridge the gap between the non-physical realm and tangible form.
What would you do with $25,000?I would establish a permanent studio on our property, a dedicated building for bringing creatives together to inspire and create. A space that would serve as a sanctuary, inspiration and reprieve for my community. My mission has always been to foster a supportive environment for those who feel unseen, providing a place to bridge the gap between the ethers and tangible form. It would be a creative home for devotional labor, communal learning, kinship and healing through creativity.
