I love to create art to bridge the past, present and future within my heritage and culture. a way to identify the complex interworkings.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Mixed media work! I find the use of reusing materials to create self portraits is a voice on the rise of overconsumption in textiles and everything that I use within my work is either given, discounted or for free!! I learned sewing, beadwork, and painting at a young age and has been the catalyst for my art since!
Where do you find inspiration? The inspiration comes from my family, friends, and my history. I do constant research and analyzing of who I am. I also look towards influential people that I have looked up to as a prospective art teacher, Bob Ross, Princess Diana, and Fred Rogers to name a few; they all brought people together in their own talents.
What would you do with $25,000?I would use it to graduate college and get my teaching certificate, as a low income immigrant, my use of art is the way I communicate of the diaspora I am currently in. I wish to give back to the world and teach the future generation of artists, they have a voice, and it matters.
