When I am painting I am Free. Is my safe space and my therapy, but also, as a woman, my art is also my revolution and my voice.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Surrealist paintings and illustrations where I can build my own worlds, situations and dreams. Art where my imagination has no borders. I strive to create work with an edge: pieces that brings a smile, invites reflection, and sometimes even unsettle. Much like the place I come from (The border of El Paso/Juarez).
Where do you find inspiration? For me, inspiration is everywhere—anything that sparks a strong feeling I don’t want to forget .The memories of daily life, the hustle for a better future, the energy of Rock n’ Roll, an unexplainable emotion or the highs and lows of my on experiences. I turn all that into art. I’m motivated by the possibilities of seeing the world from a new angle. And transforming those moments into something others can feel.
What would you do with $25,000?I’d make every penny count—I’ve always hustled to grow my art with the little I have, and this funding would let me take it to the next level—upgrading my supplies for larger-format paintings, entering art shows that are usually out of reach, and creating reproductions of my work so I can share it with more people. This money wouldn’t just support my art; it would help me expand the world I can create and bring it to others.
