Connect What is your favorite type of art to create?

I have always been drawn to the style of surrealism. To me, it is the most fitting style to juxtapose the emotional turmoil that many of us struggle with. By giving these feelings a voice, it’s becomes easier to integrate them and they no longer consume you. My art is a passage of alchemy. I believe our shadows are an integral part of what makes us human and deserve to be seen.

Where do you find inspiration?

I find inspiration in the quiet moments of the night, when only my thoughts are awake. The solitude brings emotional honesty, which without I wouldn’t be able to create at all. It’s through the silence that my best work flows through. Music is also a catalyst for my art. When I struggle to reconnect with my vision, the emotional frequency of an album will always bring me back to myself.

What would you do with $25,000?

$25,000 would not only help me with with the basics like supplies, but also give me a platform to establish myself as a full-time artist. Currently I am working as a server in order to supplement my income, but it’s still a struggle to make end meet. Not only that, but it ends up consuming so much of my creative energy that it becomes difficult to balance my responsibility yo myself and to my art. My art is my life’s purpose, there is nothing else I was meant to do in this life.
