I make art to examine the strange factual notion of being alive, using color and form where language falls short — to form a community.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite art to create is anything that allows the usage of my entire body. I feel placing one self in their work doesn’t just end with their emotional input but the physical labor that creates the materiality of the work.
Where do you find inspiration?I tend to find inspiration from poetry, literature and the lessons of the past. Mary Oliver, Albert Camus, Oscar Wilde, Mary Shelley etc. These writers, these artist invoke a curiosity of the concept of humanity and building upon their worlds, their lessons and placing them into a visual feast is my personal favorite.
What would you do with $25,000?With the $25,000 I would be able to invest in myself more as a young artist, rent a studio space to ensure more continued and honest growth. Additionally being able to repay my mom, who has selflessly supported me throughout all my artistic desires and endeavors. It would be an honor to scratch even the surface of her humility and share my gratitude with her beyond measure.
