Kreating is spiritual; pulling something from nothing, then we experience it as if it has always existed.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Work that lives deep in the conceptual realm. My practice is the distillation of complex ideas into a single image, layered in meaning. I’m drawn to kreate work that doesn’t hand you the answer, but invites you to seek it for yourself. Color, implied motion, and the few words I channel carry the weight; the rest belongs to whoever’s standing in front of it. I have no desire to dictate what you feel. My desire is to kreate work that inspires wholeness, conversation, and ultimately community.
Where do you find inspiration? The small things shape me most—attention to detail is everything. A passing conversation with someone I’ll never see again. Previous trials and tribulations. The lover who caught my heart. Lived experience is my source material. Every piece carries the residue of someone I’ve met, somewhere I’ve been, conversations I’ve had with myself. The art is what remains after I’ve allowed myself to merely exist, and just BE.
What would you do with $25,000?This would open the gates of kreation for me. The funds would allow me to be intentional in the deep dive into my practice—exploring how materials are made and refining my skills to gain the sovereignty to kreate every part of the process, down to the pigments and paper I use. Sustainability has always been part of the discipline, not an aesthetic. I’d also make the pilgrimage to The MoMA, Met, Whitney, Louvre, and Clyfford Still Museum: not as a visitor, but as a student of those masters.
