It’s kept me alive and given me a reason to keep moving forward. It’s an outlet I designed for myself to work towards improving my life.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Abstract Expressionism. I want to create something alien, something that has never been seen before. Things that don’t make sense. My dreams take me to many exotic and confusing places and it’s a way I can try and document that, if only a split-second glimpse of part of a dream.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in despair and chaos, a lifetime of vivid and lucid dreaming, mind-altering experiences, trauma, regret, and physical pain… and of course, Love. I find inspiration in mistakes and rule breaking. Making mistakes and trudging through the mucky waters of the canvass to find out what the universe is communicating to me, what the spirits are communicating, what my creator is communicating. I am not an artist, I am a conduit to another reality
What would you do with $25,000?I would print everything on my phone that has been waiting for almost ten years to print to see my finalized and completed works since my originals on canvass are not the completed work, just part of the process. I would get a membership at Makerspace Dallas, put money towards projects already started and ones I want to start, and finally start a foundation with other artists for disabled and terminally ill kids.
