Michael C Gradomski

A core part of my self-determinism is the creation of visual stimuli that had since never been observed by human sensory organs.

What is your favorite type of art to create?

Pumpkins. The inherently soft medium lends itself to illustration and sculpting in tandem, while also acting as a light box where every slice is a new swath of photons indicating the light source instead of shade. There's something very Zen about their ephemeral nature in that it is only able to be perceived for a short while, much like ourselves. We are born, we bloom, we wither, and we die. All of us bound inexorably to entropy, and must be thoroughly enjoyed for the fleeting time we exist.

Where do you find inspiration?

An errant ray of moonlight over a stack of forgotten tomes in a violently dusty corner. An inky silhouette in the pre-dawn fog of a once mighty oak planted by a nameless squirrel. The glance of hardwood flooring through layers of chipped and worn multicolored linoleum. A wrought iron fence around a long forgotten cemetery deep in the Ohio woods. The imagined life of the lovers in the abandoned graffiti carved into an unsuspecting tree several decades ago. Inspiration is everywhere for me.

What would you do with $25,000?

Invest in my art business and have professional art/art based services be my official career full time. Marketing campaigns, more equipment, and licensing pieces of established media to larger companies and make a line of products no one has dreamed of yet to further my endeavors on a much larger scale. I would be able to stop mourning the art that never happened every single day because I was forced to fulfill someone else's dreams in order to survive. I'd finally have the means to make it all.
