Michael Farsetta

I love to create art because that’s what I have always known and not necessarily a choice. Art is the ultimate way to connect with people.

What is your favorite type of art to create?

I love to create art that is focused on colors and shapes. It’s the simplicity and purity that I enjoy. It’s a language that all can speak whether it’s an individual with a master of Fine Arts or a child. For me art should be inclusive and welcoming to all no matter the education or age. I seek beauty in life and using color helps me find that end

Where do you find inspiration?

I draw inspiration from everything from abstract expressionists such as Franz Kline , Matisse and cartoonists like Chuck Jones. Walking around New York City I draw inspiration from its vibrant colors , vibrant people, architecture, the lights at night, graffiti ect… My brother passed away from cancer two years ago and that inherently changed the way I see the world and express myself through art. When I create my brother Tony’s spirit is always at my side.

What would you do with $25,000?

I would take that money and rent a studio because right now I create art in my apartment. I would love to have a larger space to work on multiple pieces and love to create larger and more grand pieces. With a larger I could also invite other artists to come and create art there as well to have an art jam session. We can exchange ideas have fun and laugh while creating work. I believe a studio space would help take my art to the next level and life changing. This would be a dream come true.
