I grew up surrounded by master artists and carvers, I knew early in life that art was my calling, my way of expression and to give back.

Northwest coast art or “formline”. This artform traditionally can be done in many mediums. Carving, appliqué for button robes, metal and ivory engraving and the famous Chilkat robes, plus more. Being able to tie the traditional forms into modern mediums is how I show respect to all those who came before me. Creating a bridge between the traditional and modern.
Where do you find inspiration?My indigenous heritage, in our culture art imitates life. Masks are created and carved to be danced and celebrated to tell stories , button robes are designed to be worn, danced and passed down from generation to generation. Traditional northwest coast art has always been passed down from master to apprentice since the time immemorial, to know that one day, everything that I’m learning from my master will be my lessons to teach to the next generation. Keeps me rooted and proud to create.
What would you do with $25,000?I would fund my first solo totem pole project , having funds creates more opportunities to teach youth and community art classes. I would be able to invest in being a better teacher, new and better tools, bigger tools for bigger jobs and tools for students.
