This is something I can not answer, I simply have to tell you. That said, I need to create art like I need to love. It is just apart of life
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite work to create is functional ceramics on the potters wheel, objects meant to be held, used, and lived with daily. I love the balance between refined design and the unpredictability of clay. Whether it’s a simple mug, a serving bowl, or a sculptural centerpiece, I’m drawn to work that feels timeless, tactile, and deeply human. My background in design also influences how I think about form, usability, and emotional connection.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in the landscapes and cultures of New Mexico and Colorado, in many of the restaurants I have worked in, in old objects, architecture, nature, and the rhythms of music of everyday life. I am deeply inspired by handmade work that carries evidence of the maker. My experience in hospitality and UX design also shapes how I approach art, but I think constantly about how objects make people feel, interact, and connect.
What would you do with $25,000?I would invest it directly into building a sustainable ceramics and design practice. That includes upgrading kiln equipment, expanding studio production, developing community-focused workshops, and creating an online platform to support handmade artists. It would also allow me to dedicate more time to creating thoughtful work while building a long-term business rooted in craftsmanship, accessibility, and meaningful design.
