I love making art, I not only enjoy the end product, but the process helps me relax. The more art I make the healthier I feel.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I prefer working in 2D media, acrylic on Masonite, or mixed media (ink and liquid acrylic) on watercolor paper. The specific project is more interesting to me than the medium. Executing a novel or clever idea is my favorite type of art to create.
Where do you find inspiration?I draw much of my inspiration from pop culture and mythology/folklore. Fleischer Brothers and Tex Avery cartoons, Japanese mythological creatures, 1960s poster art, etc. Caravaggio, Mort Drucker, Otto Dix, Norman Rockwell, Hieronymus Bosch, R. Crumb, Dali, Edd Cartier, Bert Grimm…
What would you do with $25,000?It depends on what’s left over after taxes, if there enough to put down as a deposit on a bigger studio space I may do that. Something big enough to rent out a room to another artist. Or I may take my octogenarian parents to Puerto Rico and spoil them.
