What is your favorite type of art to create?

Art that tells a "story". My work is centered around storytelling and experiences. Hidden sacred geometry, side stories of where my wood is sourced, the creation of colors from from a memory, special flowers selected for the mandalas; all develop in an organic, intuitive flow & process that memorializes a special time or feeling, or heals the heart from a loss for the clients I create for. Not only does the work tell a story, but the process creates another as well to be shared with the art.

Where do you find inspiration?

Inspiration comes from my clients. Each piece is a story we build together. The journey may start with a photo, a poem or a memory. It often leads to requests for techniques and details I have never attempted. The problem solving challenge to engineer new processes to tell these stories takes me down new paths. The excitement to develop something untried and the sense of passion and purpose to tell their stories through my media is the humble reward of service that drives me.

What would you do with $25,000?

My work is being directed into developing the art and mandalas in techniques that are layered and 3-dimensional. Acquiring and investing in new tools and materials is where resources are being used in my studio and workshop to weave new stories into the boards I am creating.
