My passion to create a whimsical world of images using infrared film and pinhole photography often hand colored. Hand printed in my darkroom
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I create art across many different types of media but focus on alternative photography. I capture some images without cameras or film, resulting in a pure image using light, photo paper, and a 10-gallon bucket with a tiny pinhole to allow the image to be projected onto the light-sensitive paper. I also produce dreamlike photos using black-and-white infrared film, which captures light outside the visible spectrum. All my images are produced in my darkroom. Some images are hand-colored.
Where do you find inspiration?I truly believe everything in this world has beauty if viewed with an open mind and heart. We often pass by such beauty in our daily lives without realizing it. I’m always pursuing that decisive moment—the one fleeting instant when everything comes together naturally and unplanned. An image that the viewer can get lost in, unconsciously studied and explored without thinking, but rather feeling. A feeling that cannot be put into words. I'm always pursuing that elusive decisive moment.
What would you do with $25,000?The prize would help bring my pursuits to fruition. I've created a syllabus for a spiritual photography workshop where the artist can capture and produce images using different unconventional techniques that touch the viewer spiritually and emotionally while experiencing those same emotions themselves. I've been working on an artistic version of sideshow fair games and puzzles for children and adults alike, along with art, games, and toys that interact with nature using recyclable materials.
