What is your favorite type of art to create?

I love creating landscapes and special spaces that leave the art aficionado walking the path, standing in the sun, riding the waves, or wondering what is just beyond the door. Watercolours allow me to create beautiful skies and dreamy backgrounds, while acrylics allow me to create punchy textures and bold foregrounds. If my work emotes expression and allows others to see part of my soul that has created that piece of art and left on the canvas, then I’ve done my job.

Where do you find inspiration?

I find inspiration from spaces that stay with me long after I’ve left them. My inspiration often comes from outdoors when I travel, from photos I’ve taken, or from hikes in nature. A storm on the lake, the Canadian Shield, or Medieval towns allow me to translate everyday experiences into watercolour and acrylic paintings.

What would you do with $25,000?

I would purchase more art supplies, and lease a space to allow visitors to experience the same inspiration that created each piece. This space would have an artist quality printer, a coffee bar with a decent coffeemaker, and an easel that can easily change angles so I can try new techniques and create even more art. I want visitors to see the textures and colours that have been translated on the canvases from my experiences. An open window into how a fleeting moment became a permanent image.
