I make art because it took away stress at some of the worst time of my life. I love to make art to bring that joy and smiles to others.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I love making and learning anything Art. However, clay is my favorite medium. I can shape it into almost anything. I can create sculptures or make functional ware to share meals with friends and family or the one special person. Without clay I would not know what do with my self. Winning this will help develop my studio practice in a way that I could not without it.
Where do you find inspiration? Most of my inspiration comes from life experiences. I make work from memories of my childhood to experiences as an adult. I love to draw on my ceramic work. I like to leave my mark and stories for people to enjoy or maybe even relate. Some of my favorites are the natural hair series. I get inspired by women with natural hair. I love curls or Afros of any texture to draw. The bigger the hair the better.
What would you do with $25,000?I would use the price money to purchase more equipment for a personal studio to develop my work even further. I would like to one day on my own studio in which People could come learn to make ceramic art or pottery an express themselves through the medium. I would like to also offer space to young emerging artist that can’t afford their own studio a space to come in develop their work and help them in any way I can like others did for me. Before I can make this happen, equipment or a must.
