My art documents the beauty I see around me. I take a lot of photos and use them as sketches for my final pieces.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite type of art to create is two dimensional mixed media. I prefer to start with printmaking because I can make several variations of a work. Then I like to create mixed media pieces where I can utilize one type of medium and enhance it with another type of medium. For example, I will make a print of a subject that I enjoy and then I will manipulate it. Which can be interpreted as incorporated or transformed into a different work of art such as the use of enhancement or manipulation.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in the world around me, from nature to historic ruins around the world. Wherever I am, I capture inspiration with my camera and those images become my preliminary sketches or printed photographs. I find inspiration when trying a new medium or technique that I have not used before. I also like to breathe new life into my art that needs more work or combine it with another work to enrich and improve it.
What would you do with $25,000?I would build a studio space that I can create in and teach art to groups of all ages. It would include a gallery space for showing artwork for myself as well as my students and the community.
