I create art because it’s medicine for my soul. I particularly make art in a group setting b/c its more about the connection than perfection

I create interactive, wearable sculpture that turns the artist into a living catalyst for conversation and exploration. It blends sculpture, fashion, and performance to spark unexpected thoughts in strangers and invite playful engagement with the world. Recent pieces include an alien head worn at a holiday bazaar, a psychedelic surrealist Bridgerton Queen Charlotte wig featuring a miniature diorama, inside, a headless Barbie. Worn to serve Jell-O shots and third-eye tattoos to VIP gala guests.
Where do you find inspiration?Inspiration flows from the vibrant creative events hosted by the Fremont Art Council, where I serve as a new board member and find purpose and endless excuses to create. My current project: a glowing Jesus lizard backpack that appears to walk on water, began as a collaborative idea with my 11 year old son. We share a symbiotic creative relationship with Seattle. After winning an Awesome Foundation grant, we’ll debut it at Luminata while paddle boarding across the lake, evoking curiosity.
What would you do with $25,000?If awarded $25K, I’d leverage my FAC role, where we believe everyone is an artist, to host inclusive hands-on classes and supply drives at the Powerhouse. Our mission invites everyday people who don’t identify as artists to “try it on for a day.” Art shouldn’t be exclusive or profit-driven; it holds intrinsic value through exploration and play. In our commodified world, genuine creative discovery feels rare. We remind people to lean into their weirdness and live authentically.
