Art is a way for me to share stories of nature and wildlife who don’t have a voice of their own and help people care for our natural world

I love creating art that shows a moment in nature that might be very brief but it can share an entire story in one drawing. It’s hard to choose my favorite subject in nature, but I really enjoy focusing on a wildlife species and getting to know them and imagining their story while I’m trying to recreate them on paper. I wish I could share a drawing with them but just as important I want to share their story with people. In this way I think people might understand their story in a new way.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration for my wildlife art anytime I’m out experiencing nature. I especially feel inspired to share the story of Florida’s creatures when I’m working to help wildlife as an environmental scientist. I get to have so many special moments in nature every day and I want to share that. On top of that I love seeing what other artists create especially in my area. I always feel very inspired after walking through an art market or gallery full of all different genres and types of media.
What would you do with $25,000?If I had this incredible opportunity, I would feel like so many people and animals were involved in the art that got me to this point. I would love to donate a large portion to the humane society who took in my dog and so many others who were moved from overflowing shelters in Texas. I would also love to send some of it to local wildlife rehabilitation centers. It would be an amazing thing if the art I create could directly benefit local wildlife.
