What is your favorite type of art to create?

My favorite is silk painting, blending traditional Japanese techniques with my contemporary, expressive style. I create luminous work with saturated color and layered texture. Inspired by Kintsugi, my metallic outlines celebrate strength and beauty. I am also deeply passionate about expanding my work into public art, translating my visual language into large, immersive installations and monumental pieces that engage the community and bring joy, light, and meaningful connection to shared spaces.

Where do you find inspiration?

I find inspiration in the beauty and light of the natural world, from glowing skies and reflections on water to florals and expansive landscapes. I am also inspired by music, human connection, memory, and the emotional power of color. My metallic outlines are inspired by the philosophy of Kintsugi, celebrating beauty in imperfection and transformation. My work seeks to capture and share moments of joy, movement, and serenity, offering a sense of peace, renewal, and blissful transcendence.

What would you do with $25,000?

Following two commissions by the state of New Mexico for its Art In Public Places program, I’m advancing into large scale public art. This award would accelerate my trajectory by supporting the development of my designs into prototypes, strengthening my portfolio to secure major commissions. I will also attend conferences to connect with industry leaders, artists and fabricators creating important work. This support will expand my reach and bring my uplifting art to a broader public audience.
