What is your favorite type of art to create?

Painting but also blankets, crocheting with different colour's and stitches is a whole other way of expression. My process is messy, fun and so soothing to my soul. I love using all types of materials and mediums. Sometimes something old turns into something amazing when a little love is given to it.

Where do you find inspiration?

My trauma is a huge influence, as at age 21, I was hit by a boat and my face and hand got chopped by the propellers. It took me 2 years, to be able to paint again. Once I did, it felt so good and healed so much hurt, pain. My first painting after that accident is actually a self portrait that is hanging in my mom's house in South Africa. The next inspiration is the beauty I have experienced after this.I was suppose to die(well did, flat lined)the appreciation of being alive, seeing things again.

What would you do with $25,000?

Get an RV or get and build out a bus so my husband and i can travel across the country with our furr babies and see the beauty of America and use that inspiration in our art. Spread the joy of art where ever we go. He paints with me sometimes and its awesome. Our collaborations are unique. Some people I have helped through my story and art have actually started painting themselves and crocheting. Some I set up with the basics to start and some just winged it and are doing great.
