With art, I aim to produce work that is a culmination of people, not just as subjects to paint, but as people with their own sense of self.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Since I was in high school I've done many types of art, but I always came back to the figure. More specifically portraiture. I feel that you can connect more with a work when you see people depicted. Their eyes, their stance, and the way that they take up space. Portraiture allows for a connection with a person whom you've never met before which I think is amazing and necessary.
Where do you find inspiration?I find my inspiration from people. Again as im doing portraiture, the work isn't possible without people. We all carry ourselves differently. Some more reserved and some more explosive. Finding these people and wanting to show them off to the world inspires me to keep creating.
What would you do with $25,000?If I had $25,000 it would 100% go towards the expansion of my art practice. It would help to fund more art supplies, allow me to rent out a large studio, and even give me more room to experiment and try new things/materials that I've been hesitant to do.
