Public art is my favorite form of art to create, free for the world to see and feel. Making art people can connect with in some way, is crucial for me. Making art accessible and available to everyone matters. I work in different mediums to create. Like a writer makes books or poetry or a song, I make art in different ways to tell a story and uplift community. Painting, photography, natural dyes and textile design are my favorite ways to create.
Where do you find inspiration?I am inspired by freedom and resilience, the amazing people and places of our planet, and protecting both. I have a need to create something tangible, through my hands - for the greater good. I am inspired by music, nature, the outdoor environment and the empty walls I see, inviting me to give them life and energy to pass on to others. I love having the ability to create something that touches people beyond the surface - and it’s free to see.
What would you do with $25,000?$25,000 would enable me to travel to locations where people have very limited access to art, and create public art for those communities, in a way that speaks to them, and turn it into a physical reality.
