I am mostly into symbolic painting, where I can mix the transparency of watercolors with the boldness of acrylics. I love creating night scenes where my Tukur lives in spaces filled with flat light and vibrant colors. My art isn't about copying reality; it is about letting my soul unfold on the canvas with the freedom and joy of a child.
Where do you find inspiration?Inspiration hits me in simple things: colors of indigenous textiles from my land, a flower, or the silence of night. My muse is the kid I still am, who plays without fear. I am inspired by life and my mestizo roots. I want each stroke to be a happening, a live event where my soul simply happens on the canvas.
What would you do with $25,000?If I won, my first priority would be starting a small children's book press to give away books to K’iche’ Maya kids in Guatemala. I’d feature the Tukur in trilingual stories for communities the government has overlooked and that lack educational resources. To me, money is just a tool; my real goal is to use art as a social engine to bring culture and dignity to the people who need it most.
