I create art to acknowledge the magic that's present all around us in nature and to recognize it's also inside each of us.

I enjoy creating large abstracts, painting with transparent acrylics, layering the colors, and allowing them to peek through each other. It's a dance with movement, light, and textures that is magical. I also like to capture the experience of the natural world through colors, bright light, and deep shadows. I sometimes address climate change, making a visual statement about man trying to dominate nature instead of living with, or even tending to and nurturing the beauty around us.
Where do you find inspiration?I am inspired by the beauty of a sunset over the ocean, the peacefulness of walking through a forest, and the idea of slowing down to look closely at a flower or a tree. I want to awaken a reverence for the magical, spiritual world in which we live. I want to evoke a visceral experience with my artwork; to recognize individual intuition and the idea of being connected to something much bigger than we can name.
What would you do with $25,000?I recently moved to Costa Rica, and my vision is to establish a retreat center for people to rediscover their creativity. $25,000 would build a community dome for group gatherings. This is where I would facilitate exercises and practices to awaken the experience of our creative nature. We are always creating our world, whether we recognize this fact or not. I want to inspire and empower people to create their world with intention. A world of intentional creatives, can you imagine?
