I focus on the “in between” while I am creating. It is where creativity is born. It is the place of life and death and transformation.

I have enjoyed the vibrancy, texture & fluidity of oils. I tend to be more deliberate with them, therefore I often feel confined by them with a sense of perfectionism that I inflict upon myself. With acrylics, mixed media & collage, I let go a bit more. The materials dictate my process, teaching me a lot about who I am as an artist, creatively and spiritually. Choosing these mediums creates a space where I am obliged to surrender to my intuition through the conflict created within the choices.
Where do you find inspiration?I like capturing an expression or mood that can jump off the canvas and arrest someone. I have often spoken about the “in between.” Where creativity is born, where it dies, and where it is recycled. This cycle feels familiar, because it is recognized within our psychic eye. It’s the place where all humans relate, speaking more so to our heart, and less so to our intellect. Though something may have seemingly died, in the cycle of nature, it is actually revived, recycled and forever alive.
What would you do with $25,000?I would have a studio built for myself. I am currently caretaking two family members. It is something I have committed to doing and want to do. However, my art has taken a back seat. I lack space, and even time to create. This would help enable me to have a space to create for myself.
