I feel good working in layers. Paint, paper,scraps. I rarely start with a vision. I add color and take it away, layers of paper and remove. I’m intrigued with the way people present & move through their lives. I find myself gravitating towards the curiosity of aged hands, smiles that hide stories. So many of my paintings reflect faces & by building layers. I find the complexity of my subject without an end goal. It validates all that rattles around in my head
Where do you find inspiration?I have been in the tourism industry my entire life and I draw from the people that have moved through my world. Observing people’s interactions, their honesty or lack of. Humans priorities are scattered, some comforting, some bizarre. So my art reflects the years of living among strangers. Music is painted into all my work. I listen to albums start to finish while creating & that too takes me to my own world. The lyrics help move the brush
