I create art for my soul and others. It's not always easy to put into words how you feel or how much something truly hurts.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
When it comes to art I love creating a vision of otherworldly auras with the heartbeat of everyday life emotions tangled into one. I feel art should take you places , make you connect, and yet find yourself in the same breathe. Seeing yourself in a piece is about becoming more human in the most beautiful way. We can yell it hurt, it felt overwhelming, it felt like me shedding skins which all are valid. But art is where that visual takes form allowing other's to connect, learn, and thrive.
Where do you find inspiration? My inspiration comes from the layers of my life. The hardships turned into an enchanting piece that reflects many journeys of healing. The pain, the becoming and the rising from the ashes. I gather my inspiration from women who felt the same yet has no words to piece that journey together. I get inspiration from melanin women that are afraid to see scars still hold beauty in them.
What would you do with $25,000?I want to build a business to help the community of melanin women ( Latin, Asian, Indian, Caribbean, African American etc). I want a place where they can create, learn self love, and feel safe. The world puts alot on our shoulders along with our cultures. I want to build a community where women can seek help no judgment, seek the tools to grow and thrive, and to know a sisterhood was built just for them.
