I love nature, life and death. My art started from adventures in the woods, to collecting and foraging all my items to honor nature into art
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Butterflies and bones are my favorite material, along with dehydrated plants and crystals- all enclosed to preserve them as long as possible. I find myself engrossed in pieces that feel they could’ve happened naturally, but have little hints of curiosity. I hope people feel they’ve stumbled across something that causes at least a moment of “huh? What’s that?”. I also sketch and turn my physical pieces into digital art, as well as photography both editing and (occasionally) modeling.
Where do you find inspiration?Life is hard and death is scary, but it’s also amazing and full of beauty. These are things I’ve thought about a lot in life and I see that reflected in nature. This is why my art is Vulture Culture; it’s an appreciation of those things. I’m inspired by the process. I “scavenge”, reimagine, and recreate in a way that makes something scary feel less so; hopefully educational or even wondrous. I grow with my pieces and then afterward it’s how I connect with others and my community.
What would you do with $25,000?First, I’d donate at least a few thousand dollars to my local community theater and our local zoo. The next portion would be a small amount to pay off my recent start up investment in my art business for the family. The remainder would go to our daughter’s college fund.
